Chinese Checkers is a strategic board game that originated in Germany in the late 19th century. Despite its name, the game has no direct relation to China, being called Chinese only to capitalize on the popularity of Oriental themes at the time. It is a variation of the older game Halma that also resembles the American game of checkers.
Chinese Checkers is played on a star-shaped board with six points, each of which can hold ten marbles or pieces representing the players. The objective of the game is to be the first to move all of one's pieces from their starting corner to the opposite corner of the star. The pieces can be moved in a straight line or by jumping over adjacent pieces, similar to checkers.
